Gibson

Category: Martini Variations

2          oz.        Gin

1/2       oz.        Dry Vermouth

                        Pearl Onion

Pour into an ice-filled mixing glass and stir until well chilled.  Then strain into a martini glass (or ice-filled rocks glass), garnish with the onion, and serve.

Tips:  Like all martini versions, simply increase the proportion of gin vs. vermouth to produce a drier drink.

Gilligan's Island

Category: Tropical Drinks

1 1/2    oz.        White Rum

1/2       oz.        Grapefruit Juice

1/2       oz.        Maraschino Liqueur

1          tbsp.     Lime Juice

Shake the ingredients together with ice.  Strain into an ice-filled hurricane glass, or a chilled cocktail glass, and serve.

Tips:  Although we haven't called for any special garnishes, fruit or novelty garnishes (such as umbrellas) are a nice final touch for this -- and any other -- tropical drink.

Gimlet

Category: Gimlets

1 1/2    oz.        Gin

3/4       oz.        Rose's Lime Juice

                        Lime Slice

Fill a rocks glass with ice, and pour in the liquids.  Stir, then garnish with the lime slice before serving.

Tip:  For a different taste, try substituting a green olive or pearl onion for the lime slice, as we have here.  Or try mixing a Vodka Gimlet, instead.

Gin & Tonic

Category: Basic Cocktails

1 1/2    oz.        Gin

3          oz.        Tonic Water

                        Lime Slice

Pour into an ice-filled highball glass and serve.  Squeeze a wedge of lime into the drink before serving.

Gin Rickey

Category: Coolers

1 1/2    oz.        Gin

1/2       oz.        Lime Juice

                        Club Soda (to fill)

                        Lime Slice (optional)

Pour the gin and lime juice into an ice-filled highball glass and stir to blend.  Top off with soda water and (if desired) garnish with the lime slice.  Then sit back and imagine yourself sitting on the wide patio of a maharaja's palace, and enjoy!

Tips:  If you find this drink's a little too tart, add a teaspoon of sugar syrup along with the rum and lime juice.
